Today the Federal Reserve is still controlled by 1,000 PhD economists and run by an unelected West Coast radical with no direct business experience. The Fed continues to enable Congress to grow our nation's ballooning debt and avoid making hard choices, despite the high psychological and monetary costs. And our addiction to the "heroin" of low interest rates is pushing our economy toward yet another collapse.

Fed mandarins destroying our system

Are you in your "golden years" and hurting financially? You played by the rules, you worked hard and you saved for retirement and now you are scraping by on a tiny income.

Read "Fed Up" to find out how the Federal reserve has rigged the game against you.

But worse than that, the Fed has set us up for more bubbles like the 2008 crash, encouraged Washington to grow the national debt, and has set up insurance companies and pension funds for a devastating crash.

Hard to believe that an opaque bureaucracy that most of us know little about can have so much power, but Danielle DiMartino Booth shows the power of the Fed. As an aside, she shows how people with limited real world experience and a demonstrated practical incompetence (but with very good power acquisition skills) can rise to a level where they can affect every aspect of our lives.

If this book doesn't make you want to grab your pitchfork and torch, then nothing will. If you need an explanation of how Trump was elected, this glimpse into the inner workings of the Washington system will explain why Americans are both frustrated and angry.

Danielle DiMartino Booth illustrates Felix Dennis' statement: "America is an empire. I hope you know that now. All empires, by definition, are bumbling, shambolic, bullying, bureaucratic affairs, as certain of the rightness of their cause in infancy, as they are corrupted by power in their dotage."

they've done great economic harm to the taxpayers of this country

Almost makes you think a PhD in Economics should disqualify you from a position with the Fed. With their consistent tunnel vision and inability to appreciate economic facts right before their eyes, they've done great economic harm to the taxpayers of this country. This book is refreshing in it's approach and insight into the Fed's policy making approach and exposes the out-of-touch theories resulting from academics with no real life experience in the world they claim to understand with their "mathematical models".

Revealing

First, my only real complaint about the book is the extreme overuse of acronyms. If the reader is not a member of the financial industry -- either Wall Street or the Fed -- the use of acronyms makes for a very difficult read and forces the reader to constantly go back to find the definitions.

What I liked most about the book was the disclosure of just how incompetent Greenspan, Geithner, Bernanke, and Yellen were/are regarding the central planning of an economy. I also appreciated the author showing the greed and corruption of Jamie Dimon, Larry Summers, and Goldman Sachs.

Here are some statements by the author that I found interesting:
Page 91 -- The Fed, Fisher argued, was giving in to a "siren call" to "indulge rather than discipline risky financial behavior."
Page 252 -- But remember, at the end of the fairy tale, the wolf shows up. The Federal Reserve's radical monetary policy -- imposed by academics with no experience in the business world -- has proved a disaster on an unprecedented scale. Global systemic risk has been exponentially amplified by the Fed's actions.
Page 260 -- Central banking around the world has become a growth industry, populated with PhD economists and a few former investment bankers. These unelected men -- and a few women, most notably Yellen -- control the world's economic system. They are arguably more powerful than the world's political leaders chosen by voters.
Page 262 -- Mistakes by the Fed included missing the housing bubble and financial crisis, being "blinded" to the slowdown in the growth of worker productivity, and failing to anticipate how inflation behaved in regard to the job market. The Fed's economic projections of GDP and how fast the economy would grow were wrong time and again.

Finally, I found it amazing that the Fed continues to rely on models created by hundreds of elitist PhD economists even though those models are wrong more often than they are correct.

A fine, genuinely moving, noir cartoon

In the classical sense, Will Eisner was a comic book titan. That is, he was there first, and he birthed the gods that followed. He is best known for his hero The Spirit, soon to no doubt be spoiled cinematically by Frank Miller, but he also created a much lesser known noirish detective hero called John Law, who Eisner never really did that much with.

A few years ago, Eisner tapped Australian comic book artist Gary Chaloner to write and draw new, original John Law stories. Dead Man Walking is a collection of these tales (there's a second one , alas, haven't gotten my hands on yet), and it's a wonder.

Chaloner's work here is marvelous. His style, while clearly influenced by Eisner, is very much his own, a noir cartoon that still allows for some fine human drama. His book design is gorgeous, his visual storytelling fluid and clear. And while Chaloner is mostly known as an artist, his writing in these stories is exceptional. John Law comes to life, and not only are all the stories fun and interesting, there are actually moments of emotion that are genuinely moving. Pretty damn good for short comic book stories.

This book is presently out of print, I think, but worth tracking down. In the meantime, I think some of the stories are readable online if you search for them.

Good information on SAP HANA & IoT

Good introduction to SAP HANA . However, the use cases provided were quite basic and considering SAP HANA, I was looking at IoT implementation from enterprise perspective There are couple of use cases available online, I would suggest you read that after getting an introduction. This book is for beginners , but not for experts or architectures looking to build IoT solutions.

Intriguing story.

Four years after losing her husband, Kate is being pushed to give dating a try. Kate doesn't know if she will ever love again and she is terrified by the thought of dating. When she meets Police Officer James, she feels something, but ca she put her heart on the line for a man who has a dangerous job?

Intriguing story. I thought Kate's process for accepting James into her life was right on track, she has a young daughter who she puts first. James you know he is head over heels for Kate, he is patient and wiling to take the time to ensure she is fully on board with their relationship. Will be checking out the rest of the series in the future.

Great love story! Very refreshing!

I loved the story line! It felt organic, very refreshing. The love scenes didn't need to be described in depth. The story and descriptions were written beautifully. I really felt emotionally involved in the characters as the story played out. I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. It had sweet, funny, and scary moments. The different relationships in the story were very believable, and easy to follow. I enjoyed reading his point of view. It described his experience really good, what he seen and how he felt. I could see this story as a movie. I will be waiting anxiously for more books from this writer.

Beautifully written! It's not often you read a book that can take through an emotional roller coaster. I enjoyed every hill, bump, twist and turn. Seeing the incident through James' eyes had me choking back tears. Love love loved it. Can't wait for the next B.T. Love 'Dating' story.

Excellent concise engraving reference. The easy to read and understand text allows a beginner to understand the basics and advanced techniques of this ancient craft. Personally, hand engraving is a dying art form that hopefully will be continued by younger craftsman.

Serious instruction and focused on the beginning student/artist/collector

Written for a beginner! OK- so all the books on "Hand" engraving are actually what is referred to as "Push" engraving these days thanks to the GRS and Lindsay power assisted graver systems on the market.

I began looking into engraving for my hand-crafted jewelry and metalwork.

I already own the Dover book for engraving and the Hasluck book- but needed more information than the brief technique and heavy style notes.

They do give an overview- but this one by far exceeds expectations. All are heavily centered on learning scripts and older styles of heraldry- but the Brittain book actually goes into the WHY of the cut for the beginner not just what angle to use and begin. One great example of this is: "...The importance of the thumb cannot be over-stressed. It is used as the fulcrum or basis of all the cuts; it controls the graver as a rudder steers a ship..." (p.22) This information is just the tip and skillpoint NOT addressed well enough in the other texts. (this is only one of many points)

If I had used this book to begin many of the initial stumbling blocks I found as a self-learner would have not been such a hurdle.

True classic, must have

Classic blues from a record that spawned thousands of blues rock guitarists copying Clapton's licks. Count me in as one of them. A real classic. Love it.

Great book/CD combination

This opinion is from someone who only recently got back into playing after twenty years away.

I think this is an excellent book and CD combination.

The backing tracks are good quality.

I can only comment on the score/tab for "Hideaway" and "Steppin' Out". Both are very close to the original and the transcriber marked down notes I couldn't hear at full speed.

I would recommend it to anyone who wants to have a go at early Clapton solos.

In order to get the best out of the book, I would also recommend getting some software/hardware to slow down the original track and play along with it.

Interesting female lead, nice world building

I don't think I've ever read a story where the female lead was purposely written as an airhead yet you love her for it. Matching her with the most alpha (although his position is actually the beta) werewolf type I've ever read about really was endearing. I loved his backstory and how he developed into the werewolf the female lead knows him to be.

What I really appreciate about this author's work is that she understands how to build a romance with a getting to know you period before the main characters fall into bed with each other.

This story could have been 5 stars for me if there hadn't been the side story with Leah which I found distracting and unnecessary. Also, an epilogue with how the kingdom of Norwich fared and the eventual child would have been nice as well.

Different than the others

This book was different than the previous two. At times it was a little hard to follow but really that just enhanced it by relating it to the storyline more. Also, instead of just dealing with Gwen's story, it connected back to Gareth from Lucien's court. I also loved all of the connections. We got to see how Lucien and Sara were as well as Kieron and Estraya were. I also liked the backstory that we get on the origin of the elemental and such. As Gwen constantly mentions, the threads are coming together. I can't wait for the next one.

instant one sided devotion

Really enjoy the devotion of Lycans for their mate. Gwen is attracted to him but makes him earn her love. They combine abilities to overcome barriers to their happiness. Enjoyable read, I have read a review of the last book that indicates it is the best of them all. Will read now.
