I felt this was much too basic for a practitioner who has had some experience with botox and other neurotoxins. I was expecting much more detail and explanation as to what the effects on specific muscle groups would be. There was explanation as to where, and how much, to inject into certain areas, but not an explanation as to what outcome was expected. Not a lot on cosmetic dermatology. The book basically glossed over injection of lots of areas without a lot of detail as to why you would inject that specific area or what the outcome of the injection would be.

I think this book would serve as a great teaching tool

I have read the book and I am not and never have I been a student of the author. Having said that, I picked it up because the notion of an academic book providing review and analysis of scandal, without sensationalizing the incidents or spinning them along party lines seems necessary, original, and long overdue quite honestly. This book is a well crafted tour of the story behind the headline and contextualizes the implications and fallout after our 24 news cycle has decided to move onto a Kardashian-type pop culture drama. For me, it's a study in human frailty on so many levels. We expect politicians to be a level above ... Sometimes, the power, greed, and ambitions that drive them to be politicians also drive them to self-destruct in the public eye, simply because they can't resist temptation or they don't think they'll get caught. I think this book would serve as a great teaching tool, or reference book for anyone interested in culture, sociology, and obviously politics.

Very happy with the magazine

Very happy with the magazine. It arrived packaged very safe and clean. It even got here a little sooner than I had anticipated.

I thought it (the magazine) would have had a little more depth to some of the articles (I'm a huge Floyd fan so much of what they printed wasn't anything that I hadn't read or seen elsewhere, as a whole) however, it was still a very good read. And goes into my special edition collections. Well worth getting if you're a Floyd fan in any way, shape or form.

Informative, and great footage...

I am just Reading it now.. It's a great Reading. Informative, and lots of rare Pictures as well meaning Picture I haven't seen before, and I am prog. rock fan(especially 70's prog. rock). This was one of the first bands I got interested in as teeange at the 1980's. Sadly, I was born in 1973 not before so I missed their start of things..Anyway this is great paper by Newsweek publication. a 5 star indeed!! Go buy it

Not just for Young Adults - Parents Need to Read this Too!

I just finished this -- and I am telling you it was compelling. It should be required reading by anyone in high school or middle school -- or anyone who has a child in high school or middle school. Basically it tells of Clay Jensen, a high school student who receives a box of audiotapes narrated by a girl who he had a crush on, Hannah Baker, who has recently committed suicide. The book interweaves her words from the audiotapes with his comments and memories. It gives Hannah's reasons why she did what she did and names the people (who also are receiving audiotapes - each person is to mail them to the next person on the list) and why they contributed to what happened. It may have been something big, somewhat small, something seemingly innocent, something no so much. But it all leads up to Hannah not being able to cope by herself even when she reaches out for help. If anyone can read this and see themselves in it and make changes - or even better see someone else and reach out in compassion, this book will have a huge effect.

From a therapist's perspective...

I work with seriously emotionally disturbed children, teenagers and families. I read this book because some of the teens I was working with were very taken by it. I found it to be a very simplified caricature of a suicidal teen. Having worked with actual people who are actually suicidal, I can tell you, the '13 Reasons' that Hannah killed herself wouldn't have even made the list for most people contemplating suicide. It may sound harsh, but, barring any serious underlying mental illness (to which there was no reference), Hannah would never have killed herself for the reasons stated.

This is such a popular book, and unfortunately it does a real disservice to teens in their understanding of suicide and what to do about it. The idea that a counselor, upon hearing that a student was considering suicide, let her walk away without contacting her parents is unthinkable. Aside from this being unethical (which, granted some therapist's are), no therapist would ever think to act in such away due to the legal ramifications. Even the most incompetent would have immediately gotten Hannah help.

Aside from the above issues, comes the underlying message. What was it? Be nice to people or they might kill themselves? Be on high alert for people who seem sad? Mostly what I got out of it was that you are responsible for others actions. It seems very one sided. In truth, we all do cruel things, we can all think back on times when, for one reason or another we behaved badly. To say that human error deserves such retribution is alarming. Not only that, this idea of post-death vindictiveness is a very attractive idea to teenagers who feel misunderstood and unheard.

On the whole I felt this book romanticized the notion of suicide and was written by someone who clearly doesn't understand teenagers or mental health. In terms of writing, I found the the character of Clay to be multidimensional, if a little over the top in terms of naivety and niceness. The other characters seemed flat. Hannah seemed completely fake because, as referenced earlier, her theatrics and explanations resembled nothing even close to those of actually suicidal teens.

Such a Relief...

...to know that I'm not the only one who thought this book was exasperating beyond measure. A friend advised me to read it and she raved about it so I was expecting it to be beyond awesome. I finished it in one evening (it's definitely a page turner) but it just left me feeling fed up with Hannah. I've had my own share of suicidal thoughts, etc so it's not as if I couldn't relate to the character. But I just found myself questioning the whole premise of the book. I understand that most readers found it thought provoking in regards to how our actions can so deeply affect those around us and it does cause you to examine your own actions and behavior towards others.

That said, I think creating a very elaborate map and set of tapes for 13 people and essentially blackmailing them into listening to the tapes just reeks of a vindictive, selfish individual. Perhaps her tapes didn't affect all her listeners as deeply as they affect the narrator but, if it were me, I would be devastated and scarred for life if I received a suicide message along those lines. It's one thing to go back to people who have harmed you and say "Hey, you messed up and you really hurt me. Just wanted you to know" and to move on with your life (with the help of a good therapist in Hannah's situation) but it's another thing to say "Hey, here are a set of tapes that describe all the detailed slights and harms that have been done to me and you can feel horrifically guilty for the rest of your life because I'm DEAD now! So there!"

Yes, some of those people did some horrible things. I'm not excusing their actions. But I also think most of those people honestly didn't know Hannah well. I have no clue what is going on in the private lives of most of the people I see every day. I think if one is living like a decent, kind individual with some awareness of those around you then that is the best you can do. It seemed like Hannah wanted everyone to read her mind and walk on eggshells around her. That is just absolutely impossible for all of us to do all the time (particularly the reading the mind part).

Ultimately, suicide was Hannah's decision, no one else's. I felt like the book was one giant pity party and an attempt on her part to blame her death on others. It just really frustrated me.

I have recently finished reading Mona Delfino's The Sacred Language of the Human Body, and I highly recommend it. This book is written in simple language as a conversation, a fireside chat with the author, in which she shares with you information gained from her years of experience as a medical intuitive and vibrational healer. In recent years, we have been hearing about energy healing and how everything is composed of energy. Somehow traditionally we have not brought that perspective fully into the area of physical health! We have surrendered our care to the medical profession and to pills that we can take rather than listening to what our bodies may be trying to tell us. We have wed ourselves to finding a diagnosis and treatment as if the symptoms were separate from our thoughts and emotions. As we reclaim responsibility for our own wellness and connect lovingly with our bodies, we too can learn to listen to our bodies and heal ourselves and each other.

Mona has shared loads of information that offers guidance about what we are storing energetically in our bodies and how we can heal. This book inspired me to connect more with my own body and start a heartfelt communication so it does not have to yell at me so loudly through more serious illness. It also offers me a great reference for my own healing path. Hopefully Mona will be sharing more inspiration and information from her vast experience as we learn how to reclaim our vibrant health and be all that we can be.

I understand that this book will be out in Kindle form soon and also is available now on Mona's website as an e-book. I like it in paperback because it is a great reference for me. I like underlining and making notations as I use it as an ongoing resource in my own healing.

Worth every cent to learn what Mona has dedicated her life to.

This book is well written with insightful information on how to understand your body and this changing world we are experiencing. She discusses how the body responds to our thoughts, unconscious and conscious. Our medical system is breaking down and is not healing anything, but just trying to cover up symptoms. It is time we learn how to care for ourselves. I have personally had healing sessions with Mona, and she is the real deal, a female Shaman who reads the body. In her book you will learn from her stories in an entertaining way. It is a must read primer for us all. I downloaded the kindle version and was then able to read it right away.

Great Book!!

Mona writes in a easy-to-understand language that helped me understand medical concepts in a way that gives me back my personal power that I didn't realize I turned over to those I chose to fix me. I thought I was wanted help and didn't realize how much self-responsibility I turned over to my healers. Mona's book gave me some easy tools to work with that enabled me to understand just how powerful my thoughts and what I CHOOSE to believe is to my physical and emotional health. Great Book!
