The difinitive guide to amateur guinea pig husbandry

I have raised and bred guinea pigs for many years and havegreatly benefited from information gleaned from Peter Gurney's book.His expertise and experience cover numerous and vital facets of guinea pig care and he is adept at explaining the concepts and procedures he discusses. I have read many guinea pig books and can without reservation state that Peter Gurney's book is by far the best. This book discusses important and often neglected issues of guinea pig health and care. Guinea pigs are generally very healthy animals but The Proper Care of Guinea Pigs comprehensively mentions a wide array of health conditions that may potentially arise and clearly discusses how to diagnose and treat these problems. This is by far the most thorough guinea pig book on guinea pig health care I have ever seen and it has even been instructive to many small animal veterinarians who only rarely see guinea pigs in their practices. I have read some gross inaccuracies in books about breeding guinea pigs but Peter Gurney's chapter on the subject is extremely accurate and helpful. The information I have learned from Reading this book has without doubt helped to improve and even to save my guinea pigs' lives. I strongly urge everyone who cares for guinea pigs to read this book to enrich their lives with their furry companions and to learn how to give them the best possible care.

The Proper Care of Guinea Pigs

This book is a must for any guinea pig owner! It is not a basic facts on guinea pigs book. It gives so much more useful information on how to take of our guinea pigs when problems arise. Especially nice feature is what to do with birthing guinea pigs, their babies, and how to be a wet nurse when necessary.
The aurthor, Peter Gurney, is a guinea pig expert, and has done a great service for guinea pigs and their owners everywhere!

I only wish I could give more than 5 stars! I absolutely love
this book. If you didn't already love guinea pigs you will after you read this entertaining and informative book. It is very helpful for guinea pig owners of all ages and the pictures are absolutely adorable. I could read it over an over and I never tire of it. If you have a g-pig or are thinking about getting one you have to have this book!

About the Author
Kevin Coval is the author of Schtick, L-vis Lives: Racemusic Poems, Everyday People and the American Library Association “Book of the Year” Finalist Slingshots: A Hip-Hop Poetica. He is the founder of Louder Than a Bomb: The Chicago Youth Poetry Festival, Artistic Director at Young Chicago Authors, and teaches at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Quraysh Ali Lansana is the author of eight poetry books, three textbooks, a children's book, editor of eight anthologies, and coauthor of a book of pedagogy. He is a faculty member of the Creative Writing Program of the School of the Art Institute and the Red Earth MFA Creative Writing Program at Oklahoma City University. He is also a former faculty member of the Drama Division of The Juilliard School. Lansana served as Director of the Gwendolyn Brooks Center for Black Literature and Creative Writing at Chicago State University from 2002-2011, where he was also Associate Professor of English/Creative Writing. Our Difficult Sunlight: A Guide to Poetry, Literacy & Social Justice in Classroom & Community (with Georgia A. Popoff) was published in March 2011 by Teachers & Writers Collaborative and was a 2012 NAACP Image Award nominee. His most recent books include The Walmart Republic w/ Christopher Stewart and reluctant minivan.

Nate Marshall is the author of Wild Hundreds. He won the Agnes Lynch Starrett Prize and served as a Zell Postgraduate Fellow at the University of Michigan. A Cave Canem Fellow, Nate won the 2014 Hurston/Wright Founding Members Award and the 2013 Gwendolyn Brooks Open Mic Award. He is a founding member of the poetry collective Dark Noise. He is also a rapper.

I'm Teaching This Book Next Year

I admit--I first spotted this book because of its badass cover. I mean, look at that cover! But reading through it has been immensely rewarding, especially in the wake of the Vanessa Place scandal (Google it if you're unaware). I teach poetry at a community college in the Pacific Northwest and the work in here--especially in its attention to sound, structure, and experimentation--really has the promise to light my students up. It also obliterates the notion that so many students arrive with: poetry is old, and white, and mummified. Instead we see it here shouting and dancing and bleeding and flirting and holding up one hell of a mirror to the rest of us.

This is poetry getting it heart and its teeth back. It's an incredibly exciting time to be reading--or writing--and this book maps that course.

Edwin Louis Cole has a down to earth, humorous, hit home style of writing that I was not surprised to find out that what he wrote was true and many of the points have worked for me in creating the lasting relationship I have always wanted. God Bless him for "Communicating about Sex and Money", it has changed my life!

Three areas which provide unique discussions between couples - communication, sex, and money. And whether you agree with Cole or not is besides the point. Take the shopping cart approach and use what you can and compare it with the biblical account. You won't be sorry you did. This book - you'll either love it or hate it. There's no middle ground with Edwin, because he puts it straight. Highly recommended!

Can't Stop Loving this Series

I have to give credit to Mr. Collings. He has managed to hook me completely with this series. And yes, I am going to ultimately end up paying the full price of a hardcover book to get to the end of this series. Don't care - it's worth it. It is just a wonderfully fun, funny and inventive zombie/alien series. I actually enjoyed this installment more than some of the previous ones, despite the longer wait for its release. And it was a longer wait. I had to actually go back and reread installment 5 because I forgot some what occurred.

I felt I actually did get some answers in this installment - and some unexpected and nice twists as well. Looking forward to the next installment.

Excellent Fast Paced Zombie-Munching Fun

Michaelbrent Collings did it again!

He created a fast-paced ride through an even faster collapsing world and left me dangling wanting more.

I did feel the story was a bit TOO fast and far too short. There were some things that I think could have slowed down and been developed more, rather than to put out a book to feed the fans who have been waiting. Some things were expected, but there were some twists there that had me hanging on to every word.

Will I buy #7? Yes indeed. Michaelbrent Collings is one of my favorite authors and honestly? Your fans can wait an extra month or two or three to really put some "meat" in the story!

awesome I can't get enough of MBC.

Fast paced. Not predictable. Omg I could not put it down. When does the next book in this series come out? Not your normal zombies here. More like zombies on steroids. The only thing I didn't like was it wasn't long enough. I gave it a five because all I could think about was when was the next time I would have time to finish the book. I made time. Highly recommend for horror, zombie, action lovers.

Read only when you're ready to live in love and freedom

Michele O'Donnell's book was given to me to read, and it pierced my heart all the way through like nothing I'd read so far, and I've been struggling with the reality of our freedom, in Christ, from the law of sin and death. Somehow, in her book, she is able to put forth the realities of who God is and who we are in relation to Him in a way that I was able to finally KNOW that I don't have to accept sickness, pain, etc. etc., and I have been able to refuse my routine headaches, and so far have banished 5 away out of the last 5 that tried to come.I'm also learning the true meaning of forgiveness of others' transgressions against me, including refusing to buy into the lie that I'm supposed to be somehow "handicapped" as a result of abuse I suffered. I know that I am free from all that garbage! I thank God for reaching us through Michele!

Amazingly Helpful Book

I am so happy to have found this book. It really breaks through the false notions we all entertain about a punishing and menacing God which sustains our suffering because somehow we feel we deserved it or incurred God's wrath. NOT SO!!! Michele Longo O'Donnell has blessed us with this beautiful presentation of God's eternal love, a God who never sends us sickness, suffering, problems, unhappiness, or bad things but only is unchanging love and mercy and forgiveness. So we can begin to release the false hold all this misery has on us and on all mankind. A treasure to read and give as a gift!

Best book I've read!

This book is an awesome read for me. I felt closer and closer to God with every page. Now, doctrinally I'd say I'd have to re-word some things, but the overall general impression I walk away with is that God is all love, and that love really heals. I am much calmer and quieter on the inside for having read this book. I'm not so rushed and frazzled as I used to be. I have more energy because I am not anxious or worried! Wonderful piece of work.
